Unsung Heroes | KAPIL SHARMA
Every school day, there’s someone standing at the gates — managing the rush, greeting every face, and making sure the morning runs smoothly. We’re shining a light on Kapil Sharma, Security Guard at NAS Dubai — one of the unsung heroes of our school community.
1. ABOUT YOU
Q1: Where are you from?
Answer: Nepal.
Q2: How long have you worked at NAS Dubai?
Answer: 4 years.
Q3: What do you do on your day off?
Answer: On my day off I love cooking, sleeping, and spending time with my friends.
Q4: What’s your hobby?
Answer: I love playing Wood Blocks — it’s a really fun puzzle game! You just drag wooden shapes onto a grid and try to make full rows or columns to clear them. The sounds are super satisfying, and it feels great when a line disappears. And the best part is you can play with people from all over the world!
2. LIFE AT THE GATES
Q1: What is the most challenging part of your job?
Answer: The hardest part of the job is managing the traffic on the road, especially in the morning when everyone is rushing to school and again at the end of the day. Managing both the traffic and the parents can get really hectic!
Q2: What’s your favourite part of your work?
Answer: I love meeting the parents and the cute children every morning and again at the end of the day.
Q3: Do you have a favourite student?
Answer: I don’t have a favourite student — I truly like everyone.
3. FUN / RANDOM
Q1: What are the funniest or strangest things you’ve had to deal with?
Answer: It’s always funny how the younger kids try to peek into my cabin. They’re so curious about what’s inside that they’ll do anything to get a look!
Q2: As a security guard, do you ever get scared at work?
Answer: No, I never get scared!
Q3: What’s your favourite food?
Answer: I absolutely love Nepalese cuisine, especially a traditional dish called Nepalese Dhido. It’s made from ground buckwheat or millet, and its warm, earthy flavour always reminds me of home.
Q4: Do you like your job?
Answer: Yes, I love my job! Every morning I get to see all the cute kids and their parents, and they’re all so kind — it always starts my day with a smile.
