We’re pleased to introduce Mr. Tarek Muraal, who wears several hats at NAS — Head of Houses, Physics Teacher, and Coach. From Hull, England to Dubai, with a possible UAE rugby call-up on the horizon, Mr. Muraal shares what drives him both inside and outside the classroom.

Head of Houses / Physics Teacher / Coach.
Are you a coffee or tea person?
Both.
Where did you grow up?
Hull, England.
What was your favourite subject in school?
PE and Lunch.
Did you have a subject you disliked?
I wasn’t a fan of English.
What’s your current favourite weekend activity?
Being outdoors and anything active.
What is your go-to comfort food or favourite restaurant in Dubai?
Sandwich in any form.

What inspired you to become a teacher?
Originally, I loved coaching and the feeling of helping people.

If you weren’t a teacher, what would you be?
An engineer.
Hidden talent?
My Duolingo streak.
Favourite movie / TV show / song / book?
Interstellar / The Mandalorian / Any Bad Bunny song atm / Red Rising.

Something people would be surprised to know about you?
This year I’m eligible for selection for the UAE rugby team.
Best trip or destination you’ve ever visited?
Costa Rica.
How do you relax after a long school day?
Walk my dog Otis, cook food, gym.
